    I have local backups on an external drive but I'd much rather something that syncs for me repeatedly through the day, because if I get fucked on a random reboot I'd like to be able to restore & not lose w/e I typed for the last few hours lol

    goddamnnit, I ust realized I paused the initial backblaze backup on my laptop for some reason like 3 months ago and never unpaused it. There's $15 flushed down the toilet.

    Yes, this. I've been doing IT for a long time, and cannot count the number of people - most of them professionals - who got screwed because they didn't test the backup plan (file backups, disaster recovery, BCP, whatever).

    "But I get a report every morning saying backups completed okay!"

    Six months later, "what does tape read error mean?"
