So not totally the same but...

I got a speck of tanbark in my eye. No one would believe me. Kept saying to just rinse it with water and my eye was irritated.

Finally Mom took me to the ER.

Doc found a big ole piece of it in my eye and showed my mom once he got it out with a magnifying glass and some special tweezers.

I WAS VINDICATED AND NOT "BEING A BABY"!

Oh, so on the other end of this vindicated as a kid spectrum...

When my kiddo was little he was known for literally dragging his feet and not moving fast when he didn't want to leave the house in the morning. We were heading to the car and he was all limping and complaining that "my leg hurts" and all this crybaby stuff. So I told him to knock it off, get a move on, he was making me late for work.

he came to work with me that day. So at one point he was in the bathroom and called me for help (he was still little enough to sometimes need help in there). I went in and he had no pants on as it was a sit down job and I saw his leg.

Holy shit.

He had scraped his knee the day before at daycare, and now that "scrape" was red, swollen, with streaks running in all directions from the throbbing wound.

Yeah, I felt like an ass and ran straight to the doctor, who gasped and said, "Oh, that's right over the bone. We don't like that." And gave me topical antibiotics and oral that he had to take for two weeks.

I've never again doubted him when he says something hurts.
