My child's 15th b-day is in just over a week.

He is not able to give me ideas for gifts because he says he pretty much has everything he wants or needs.

I'm unsure where he came from. At any given time in my life, especially when I was a kid, I can give you at least 52 things I want.

I may just end up giving him money.

 

That's exactly what I'd say to my mom when I just wanted her to give me money.

Money trumps anything anyway. 15 y/o boys don't care about the 'thought' behind the gift, having the freedom/power to spend it on whatever random whim might come along in a week is way cooler IMO ofc

 

My kids are the same way. It's like pulling teeth. They eventually come up with something though cause I don't buy them "stuff" throughout the year and try to get them exactly what they ask for on birthdays and Christmas.

 

Buy them socks and then say "you didn't specify so I just got these".

 

I would 1000% never get that close to one if I had the option. They like to hang out on my favorite trails...I seriously just wanna pee my pants every time I see one. I'm so not meant for snakes!

 

Whenever people ask or hint for cash as a gift, I picture the same 20 dollar bill being passed around from family member to family member for birthdays. It sounds stupid, but it's essentially what's happening.

Don't give me any concrete ideas, get something I think is cool.

spoiler alert, I think some pretty dumb things are cool

 

Just give them money and let them buy their own stuff. You know, exactly what we all wanted when we were kids. Cash.
