It'll probably be almost immediate for devs to start working with Starlink but commercial development is maybe 2-3 years away

 

I feel you. Spend the next few years to get a job with Starlink.

(I went through this with the dialup/isdn/dsl transition when I worked for people)

I will never work for a corporation ever again. Did it once and never want to go back. Even if this does go well I think I may be okay. Just because the bandwidth is there doesn't mean people will go there. We service areas that do spectrum 100M and they still go with our 5-20M packages because our tech support is very local and there are only two of us. Plus we have a fiber network in bigger cities.... so here's to hoping!

Same with corporations but when it came to bandwidth we were so ahead of the curve I just didn't actually get it. Our building was physically located next to the nexxus of copper coming into Cleveland. I had a 500 Mbit connection and a Nokia phone back in like 2003-4. Our core company specialized in selling off laser and radio line of sight building to building in dtown Cleveland rather than distance. Company takeovers started to include phonelines and wireless and all that new technologies that people wanted.

Had it just been toying with equipment I'd probably still be there but it turned into a corporate structure.
