    One of the updates to how services work on windows in a future update will fix this but until then updating on windows is bad enough that I'm not using it until that comes out or if I get a linux box setup.

    Interesting, I do pay for two Plex PASS accounts right now. I will have to see how it goes. It's nice to know there is an alternative if PLEX blows up or gets attacked by RIAA

    Plex pass sub and not lifetime? oof

    I've had lifetime on my plex (and even have one for emby lol) so cost isn't a reason that I would want to switch but rather just Plex slowly going downhill.

    XBMC (now known as kodi) + optional on the fly transcoding is an easier way to understand it.


    The have been putting very little resources into fixing long standing bugs that old users care about and instead are putting most of their time into adding new features to attract new users like tidal that most of the old users don't give a shit about.

    Also they have started spamming our emails with ads lol

    I havent been receiving any ads and if there is something I consider "broke" I just change the code myself. It is quite a pain with all the updates they are throwing these days

    THinking of setting plex back up so it recognizes the local server during a cable outtage reminds me of something else. Do you know that Amazon devices dont work if the cable goes out? WTF Why does it have to have internet to switch my lights on????

    Well at least on Jellyfin if you fixed something it could get sent upstream after you fix it.

    I don't think that you should have to fix their shit if you are paying for it though.

    as far as ads though these mostly are all ads that I can prob unsub from but they used to use the email for important updates...

    I also hear that they are going to add some 'live' streaming stuff with advertisements or something. I doubt that it will ever affect local media but it is still dumb to me.
