I was actually thinking about sending an email with my Uni email (full name), not associated with my mturk account (lower chance of retaliation) to simply inform them I reach around 50% of the task in 20min, so they approved a task paying their subject $2.99/h which is in no way ethical and they should reconsider their approval practices and that it's shameful for a university as well recognized as theirs to think it's okay to pay workers that kind of salary.

 

I approve of you eating tacos. I will not though. I'm sorry

Lol. This was a complete joke of a HIT with no chance to get that bonus. Somtimes the page blinks, sometimes it doesnt. The green square actually changes its timing when it shouldnt, so your answer would be different on each attempt to get it right. Dont even do this garbage if you value your time. This is 5 minutes of my life I wont be getting back.

I reached the third part where it said there would be 4 blocks of experiments, all getting longer than the previous ones (practice one took 2min), and there were 4 or 5 parts to the entire thing. I was 20min in at that point, so no way to finish in under 30min, which would have already been less than $4/h.

I answered a handful of questions which I presume entitled me to continue onto the survey (it doesn't say anything about when you qualify) and then it asked more specific questions which were relevant to what I presume were the screening questions, and then said "survey completed". So, either it doesn't do a great job of letting you know you've been screened out, or it's just no code. Either way, seems risky.

Sounds like a solid plan to me. I'm wondering if there are any university by-laws that cover payment, even union staff pay, etc.? How well endowed is the university, the department? Might not hurt to scout around a bit. This is the kind of pay we see from mid-level and community colleges in the US.
