No he just likes to chew on things and it's incredibly annoying. If it's plastic, he chomps.

He pulls wrappers out of the garbage and chomps at 100% volume when I'm sleeping, and I think he's learned that its a way to wake me up so I interact with him. He's an aashole

 

My chomper is all about cardboard. Amazon boxes are her FAVORITE because of the nice crisp chomp sound they make. She will sit there and chomp until the box is one big soggy chomp mess. Culprit pictured below.

i have a jerk cat who does this too! he's an absolute plastic fiend. i had to start locking any bagged item in my cabinets with child locks, seriously. i had no idea this was a thing. i'm sorry your cat is another plastic addict, it really is an annoying sound, especially in the middle of the night.
