Wow, guess I'm lucky my hubby "gave me permission" to go to Occupy in St. Louis and share a tent with a male student about 16 years my junior. She would probably choke on the thought of that one.

Hubby will be super confused when he wakes up. He'll just give me an "Ok honey, whatever you say. See you in the morning."

 

She asked how Matt felt that I was camping "with other men," and I just stared at her blankly for a minute. I wasn't aware that I needed permission, not to mention it was a group trip with our friend group so it's not like I was off with randos lol.

Meanwhile, I'm just psyched that 4 different dudes from our camping trip went up to Matt at work to tell him how impressed they were that I was able to set up & take down everything without help! ( I also went biking with the dude who does a ton of bike races, and he was most impressed I was able to mostly keep up haha)

I felt very much like burly mountain Bird and I was chuffed. I even picked out my own tent spot and everything! Self sufficiency is the best!

She had some great questions about this, too. I told her about how my ex of 4.5 years was 6'5" and she looked like she was gonna pass out from the shock of it. She asked if height was a factor in how I pick dates and I was like, "Uhm...not really. I just date dudes who are cute and put up with me? Ya know...normal dating?"

She also had extensive questions about how Matt feels about my many cats and dogs. Does Matt want to dump me for having so many? IS THAT WHY WE AREN'T MARRIED?! I had to tell her that half of them are literally HIS, and we basically just have a combined hoard at this point because we both love animals.

I learned so many things this trip! I've really been living life all wrong, apparently. Guess I need to go find a 4'9" man who doesn't have any pets and will accompany me into the woods from now on.
