My mom used to make and eat them when I was a kid. The sight of them in a store or even just the thought of them makes me gag. And also probably why I don't like the smell of vinegar either. Blah!

 

That's exactly how you're supposed to eat it, and exactly why so many people think it's awful - it's super strong and has to be spread thinly. Anyone who tries it like it's similar to peanut butter or jam and spreads it thickly is going to have a bad time.

 

Can often also be found in bigger chain supermarkets, depending on where you live. Certainly it is possible to find it in Pennsylvania without going to a specialty store.

 

I call this the cabbage dance. I can't find the dance gif I want so this has to work.
