What kind of acne is it? If hormonal, spironolactone saved my life and is widely available and super cheap even with no prescription coverage on insurance (GoodRx, like $7-10). It's a pretty common hormonal acne life saver. My derm combined it with tretinoin cream (which is what Retin-A is) which is also da bomb. I'm surprised he'd be recommending something that isn't even sold lol
