100% this. my dad made a living flipping antiques, and his thing was always that the value of something is only what people will pay for it. he'd have stacks on stacks of books for pricing things but it all meant nothing unless it was what someone was willing to pay. once ebay came into the picture, he did exactly that instead of asking his peers at flea markets and auctions. there are also many BOLO forums for tips and tricks for what's hot at any given moment.

but it also works both ways because there's always going to be a niche collector for everything. just like if something might be "worth" $100 but people are buying it for $10, there will be someone who would pay $100 for that one special whatever only worth $10, but it just so happened to be at the right goodwill at the right time, or whatever.

 

Already done on most of them. They were dropped and I couldn't get to them all in time, but we did now. Just a couple of the wild ones left to catch.

 

This is great. Thank you. I have miscellaneous shit around the house too that that will probably come in handy for. Tbh, I totally think the pottery piece is neat and would love to keep it, but another main drive for identifying the artist is valuation. What can I say... I'm a turking, GW scrounger.

It's hard to know what the hell people will pay for stuff
