I kid you not, that's almost word for word a phone call I had with Comcast a few years ago. I even told them exactly what the problem was (something with their DNS, I think), and they still kept on saying "nope, our system doesn't show any problems".

Listen, underpaid flunky, whether you have it logged or your reporting system is as laggy as your internet service doesn't matter, I'm telling you I'm sitting at home and you have an outage.

20 minutes later - oh hey, I've got an update, we're showing an outage in your area.

When I first moved to the States, the guy I was working with told me that was how he got online whenever he had to travel. He had so many promotional offers from them he just signed up for a new 1000 free hours or whatever it was every time he was in a different city and needed access.

yup, almost word for word *EVERY* call to Comcast for me, its like uh sorry i have a job in IT and i can tell you when the line is flagpoling even thought your system tells me that my line is "perfect". and of course, as you said, they call back shortly after the call end apologizing saying they found something wrong. gets old fast
