This exact same thing (which you described so well!) has been a 'running gag' (kind of sort of) my entire life. Way back when, when I was very 'serious' about audio quality and fancy stereo equipment, like the idea of two separate monaural 'tube' amplifiers, I came to the conclusion that 'Dolby', and other noise-reduction techniques were pretty worthless for my tastes. I'm a little less worried about 'ultimate' audio quality now, although I still find it a bit distressing that so many people think MP3 files are perfectly acceptable. (Although I have to admit that a few of them are pretty impressive!)

Much more recently, I've come to feel the same way about photographic 'noise reduction', The idea of people buying cameras for several thousands of dollars (in order to get the highest resolution) and then applying noise reduction (blur) to their photos makes no sense to me at all!

Four and a half years.

But I'm not a great example of an average turker. I have a full time desk job so this is part time for me. I am lucky that I can keep an eye on things during the day pretty much (not all the time, I do have clients and meetings), so while I do miss some quals and don't always do a lot of hits at the desk job it helps. Today was a slow day so I was able to work on some surveys in between stuffing mortgage payments into envelopes

 

And I caught a lot of stuff this morning before taking Kiddo to school. That was just pure luck, though.
