BTWs: Today I had to add lard to teh sausage to make gravy. It was too lean.

Oh, good! I shoulda tagged you! Phew! I felt like a let down haha.

 

2 cups all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 tablespoon of baking powder (yes, both)
1 tsp salt
5 rounded tablespoons of lard (make sure it's cold)
1 cup cold buttermilk (you can make your own if you don't have any)


preheat oven to 450
mix dry ingredients, cut lard in the dry mixture til crumbly with a fork or pastry cutter
add milk and stir just until it's combined (just a few twists of the spoon, leave it pretty sticky and wet)
knead the dough (pat out and fold about 6 or 7 times)
The last time pat out to around an inch thick.
Cut your biscuits to whatever size you like
Bake 12-15 minutes

 

I pretty much have any recipe that calls for bacon grease or lard...extra fattening, southern food.

 

I had to buy lard cause Odom's innit fatty enough for gravy anymore. :/

That's the secret ingredient...brush it with butter and it makes the skins extra flaky
