It really is. I am beyond grateful to already have a full-time remote job and not "need" that job financially, but still tied to that office for silly circumstantial reasons (and being the only person who knows how to do the important parts). But not a day goes by that I don't thank the universe for the situation I have now, because I'm so sad not everybody has that option and has to risk exposure daily.

Same here. My full-time job is at an office, but I've been working remotely for three months now and am currently scheduled to continue working remotely until January. They're bringing people back very slowly and cautiously.

I frequently say to my wife how grateful I am to have a job where I can work remotely, I haven't lost any hours or pay, and my company is all about "take care of yourself and your family, if you need to be flexible because your kids are at home that's cool, we'll work it out, but your first priority should be to take care of yourself and your loved ones, physically and mentally".

It's a blessing, and I am grateful beyond words.

That's so amazing, I'm so glad you have that. It sounds cliche, but that whole Mister Rogers "look for the helpers" bit is more apparent than ever right now. The world might be a literal flaming pile of garbage right now in every single way, but true colors are showing for better or worse, and seeing the true colors of the "helpers" like your company is so, so awesome. Adaptability is important, but basic human compassion is where it's at.

There was a thing going around the internet saying how in the future, a question to ask future employers is how they handled the covid crisis. I personally honestly never plan on leaving my current job, but it's a super important question for anyone who does look for a job after this. How employees are treated says a lot about how a company is run. :ba:

I’m so glad all of you with jobs that let you stay home are safe! And I hope those of you that have to go in have places that are being careful.
We have changed policies at work to protect us and so far it’s working out. There is limited risk. Less risk than going into a grocery store.
Just hoping the new mandatory mask requirement doesn’t bring out the worst in some people. So far everyone has cooperated.

    stay safe all of you!
