I feel this comment more than I want to. I trained most of my Kentucky drawl away. :/

 

I've always hated that some people think you shouldn't be taken seriously if you sound just a bit too country.

 

how does one become a trophy husband? are there forms to fill out or something?

 

It's sad as hell, but it's the fact that if you sound country you don't get respect.

Now don't get me wrong, if I need something from someone up north, I turn it on thick and play dumb. Espeically if it's a lady that answers the phone cause well 1. apparently my voice is hawt (this is confirmed) and 2. the southern drawl just makes people wanna help ya out.

 

My wife complains I'm losing my accent, so every time someone says something about "I love your accent!" I feel compelled to mention it to her twenty times or so.

We would often meet new people and invariably the wife would blurt out, "I love your accent, I could listen to you talk all day!", then look at my wife and say, "is it okay for me to say that?". She'd laugh (mostly because she heard it so often) and say it's fine, I know he's got a great accent, that's why I married him! And then flash her wedding ring flagrantly, just to make the point.
