I don't approve of his dumb takes on India. I don't even approve of my own old dumb takes on India.

Obviously the post(s?) that got him tossed in there were awful, which is why I went to him and told him his takes were shit & tossed him into the shadowban realm with everyone else but even he agreed his takes were dumb.

Help bridge this for me, seriously, if he (or anyone) gets told "yo, that shit was awful, wtf is wrong with you?" and they move on when does everyone else? I mean anyone can fairly have a point we can't know if someone is still harboring shithead takes but unless they are expressed again is it "ok you said shit thing on this date and you're shit until [X]"?

The guy literally apologized, recognized he deserved to eat the ban, and (well until recently judging by his post history) only circumvented it to export hits/useful info for people attempting to make money.

I can nuke his account here and it means nothing about me. Literally nothing. It doesn't mean that I disagree with his takes at all, me saying "yo that shit was awful" is my assertion that those views were trash, not banning him.

I can understand the position of like "no it means a lot to me" & that's totally understandable (as @purplepotato has been doing while I'm trying to type this making 90% of the post useless) but I truly am not understanding how it says anything about my own character. And I'm not someone who can really feel what does/doesn't foster a hostile environment especially if (BIG IF) the hostility stops. There are 18,000 hostile things that happen here every week everyone knows full well we are not all going to enjoy everyone else's company all the time. Obviously little to none of it rises to the level of those posts, not trying to level "indians are bad people" to "dont share batches" on the moral fabric line.

FWIW the only thing I have any issue with as far as your post was saying it has anything to do with money when it doesn't, and you know it doesn't, and tbf regardless of my race/gender/whatever you know that particular dig was going to actually hurt my feelings lol. The rest is fine/understandable, even if I think you're lashing out at least a little bit. None of those three characteristics are ones I got to pick, you can be mad and go ahead & use them if it helps, but it's still messed up within the context of you at least being semi-aware I have attempted to learn myself some things in spite of them.

The core issue is more that I let the guy continue to circumvent it to the point where she's right it basically isn't a ban at all.

Is the point to just exact vengeance and do we purity test everyone or just the really stupid ones who let it slip?

There is no world where we destroy someone's life and they improve their character. If I'm stuck dealing with an ash hole I'd rather at least try to positively impact in some way/shape/form.. as much as I do try to avoid having to touch anything in that category with a 9,000 ft pole since, as has been pointed out, my characteristics make me largely unqualified to speak intelligently/empathetically.

All I got to go on is experience, and I straight up said xenophobic things about Indian workers back on MTG. I think my take was that the forum owner at the time should ban all Indian accounts since they didn't "contribute" anything (a take which, ofc, was fucking wrong) and let's just be super clear I said awful, VILE garbage beyond that all the time on MTG. I called people fat/lazy/shit a lot. I was an angry piece of shit for a LONG time.

Thank [pick your diety] @WimpLo @Melting Glacier @Tripsa etc didn't ban me because if they had I'd have made more money and gone right on believing I was 100% in the right and all those lazy shits on the forum got what they deserved.

I so don't vibe with this just nuking people from orbit thing. I really don't. I'm open to understanding why it just has to be a 1-strike and we're executing someone but it wasn't what made me less of a dick.

Honestly? No. You are wrong. If you don't speak out against racism and continue to allow someone with such vile racist takes to use your forum, this means ultimately you are okay with it. There is no argument here. Either you have a zero tolerance policy for racism, or you are complicit in enabling him. End. Of.
