02/03 - Workity Workity Work Wednesday

Search button. Hitting Enter doesn't do anything for me.

But, good news, I got it to (mostly) work. Like this is more than enough for me. @Slowdive see if this works for you as well. Instead of "contains" switch the search parameter to "strict." And do the search that way. BUT, when it says strict it means it. I can't get results for Mad Lab or even MAD Lab, but can for MAD Labs. Nothing comes up for theater or Theater Lab, but will for The Theater Lab. Visual Search is nothing, but Amazon Requester Inc. - Visual Search pulls up all those hits that I wish would come back to start off my day . So capitalization and exact wording brings it up, and it produces the result very quickly.

The speed is important because with the contains search, you can go churn butter and come back and it's still going to be spinning.

 

Ok the spinny wheel thing is not what I understood the problem to be. That's just an index issue on the db most likely, how many HITs are in y'alls history?

I have no clue what the issue is, I'll convert the button to a link in a future patch as long as it doesn't cause UI issues.

 

A decent amount, but it's not even everything because I lost some of my history with a laptop failure. I believe it's a bit less than 75,000 right now. Want me to get a more exact number? But also, the database being large didn't seem to make a difference when I did the strict search to produce a result, only the contains search. I did try searches with dates, thinking that the size of the database could be an issue that was lengthening how long it took to get a search result, but still didn't get anything. I'm talking.

Were you participating in that task too? Overall I thought it was interesting! Not sure how much we can talk about so I'm staying vague on purpose. As someone who doesn't use social media often, I certainly thought it was a neat experience!

 

I tried, but couldn't get in! At least I still have my back and forth with her.

 

If you wanna do me a favor, go back to the normal search (contains or w/e) and before searching f5 the page and then hit Shift+Esc, you'll get a Chrome "task manager" that is like this:



You can right click to add/remove columns

Anyway keep that up but go back over to tracker and try to search your req. Lemme know if the memory or CPU skyrockets

FWIW I looked at the code & p sure I know what the issue is just wanna make sure it's exploding properly LOL
