    yeah it's insane. I hope everyone makes it out okay.

    also, if your doors are drafty, my mom always used to stuff folded newpapers or cardboard boxes around the edges to block the icy air from entering. if you don't have winterization stuff, it works in a pinch and keeps the cold out.

    I keep some really old towels and blankets for just his kind of occasion. We hang them around the opening completely to just block it off. We honestly just trap ourselves when it is cold. Freakin hate the cold. lol

    The coldest I've experienced was -34 with a wind chill making it -57. Was not fun lol. Keep every bit of skin covered in that instance. Keep a faucet dripping, it won't keep your pipes from freezing but in case they do freeze it can keep it from rupturing which between the replacing copper and the water damage can get spendy. Also in case that happens it might be useful to keep a bathtub full with a bucket you can use to flush the toilets. Also try to keep an eye on your drains our sewer main froze once and sewage is something you really don't want backing up. I'll see if I can think of anything else lol. Like we routinely will get -20 for a week or two at a time and it's just kinda business as usual around here.

    I will do this. I need to replace the weather stripping around my front door, but def not gonna do it until it warms up enough to have the door open for long enough to do the job.

    Thanks for the tips!! I'm pretty sure the septic will be ok, and our grey water just kinda drains in the yard (we're fancy af) so those are easy to check and keep an eye on. We don't plan on going outside for anything but firewood, and that'll be a minute at the max just grabbing an armful and bringing it in with us but I'll make sure we cover up properly for it.

    I got zero reply from him and now putting together an email for his IRB and professor as well. I saw they had a complaint Word file on their site. Thanks for the info and putting in your complaint.
