    what's the trick to tamales. i'm supposed to love them because i live in a majority hispanic state but i hate them. the red chile, green chile, pork, beef, etc. center stuffing is tasty. the breaded wrap around the center is tasteless, wet and crumbly making it what i hate about tamales. it's almost like the corn husk keeps that breaded thing from cooking right.

    Sounds like whoever makes those tamales is not adding any spices to the corn masa to give it flavor and they might be a bit undercooked if the masa is still wet and crumbles apart.

    Could always put them in a skillet with the husk still on and char them on both sides it will dry out and make the masa somewhat crispy.
