    PS if you didn't pay taxes for a year or even a lot of years, google irs fresh start. they have three programs that can help us if we mess up, but I think they have to get done BEFORE you get in trouble, not after. but I'm not sure about that.

    if you want to do the offer in comprimise option, I'm almost positive we don't have to pay the application fee(s), because we don't make much money (most of us). but if you do that option, you must submit the forms for the year which you are filing for. I guess that is where a lot of people mess up and get rejected. so like if you need to file a schedule C form for the year 2015, you need the one for 2015. so you have to call the irs and get the form for that year.

    but I read all that online so I could be wrong.

    As long as you're honest about what you're bringing in (inc. stuff like mTurk) and aren't taking any deductions that you shouldn't be (the home office one is a big source of problems), you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
