it's a sheet and blanket wrapped around me because I was cold, but then I put it partly over the table in front of me around the computer. it's warm and drowns out noise from outside the igloo!

@malysa do you have bifocals? I first got bifocals a few months ago. this is the first day I'm wearing them while turking a lot. the only way I can turk on my laptop with them, is to smush the middle part of the glasses up with my thumb. the little nose pieces have to be moved up to the same height as where my eyebrows start in the middle. I tried the thing of move and tilt the laptop so it's 2-3" below eye level and tilted back. but I still have to smush the glasses up really high so I can look through the very bottom part to see what's on the laptop screen clearly. do you have any advice? or any other turkers with bifocals? it's slowing me down to have to hold the glasses up, but I can't really see well enough without them.

edit: I googled and the internet says I need a 2nd pair of glasses that is for seeing things close up only, that isn't bifocals.

Apologies in advance for the length, but I have some good tips to give you and wanted to be thorough (EDIT: That's what she said).. Replying to this and some of your other posts from today. (And this in regards to the master's batch from Amazon Requester Inc. - 'AiGen' - "Image Quality Evaluation" for anyone that is curious.) And some of these tips are good for other hits too, so might be worth a read, even if you aren't qual'd for these.

You want to open these in *multiple tabs* with the hits already accepted and the check box to auto accept next hits clicked. After completing one, use *shift+tab* to jump to the next task in the next open tab. This saves on hit/ image loading time, which is a lot of wasted time, if you only have one task open. *Good tip for batch work in general*.

I've found that *staying zoomed out*, to where you can see or almost see the whole image on the page helps a lot! Zoom in on the trickier ones, but a lot of scene and human flaws are visible with the image zoomed out. This helps a lot with speed. And I mean super zoomed out to like 50% or lower where the bubbles are much smaller, etc.

Select a bubble for the first question, which will be 'major defects' more often then not, so I usually keep my cursor over that bubble as often as possible, as it will stay there when you move to the next hit/ tab. Then use tab to get to the next question and spacebar and/ or arrow keys to make a selection. Tab through the other questions doing the same. Then use the shift+enter command to submit. Then shift+tab to get to the next task again. *Tabbing and arrowing through q's is also a great way to speed up survey work too*.

It might be tiresome at first, but it gets easier as your muscle memory adapts and you've worked more of the tasks (patterns definitely emerge). Plus a lot of the images are extremely flawed (both scene and human wise or there are no humans, which makes it easier too), and there are some (not many) perfect images that you'll see repeatedly across batches, that I think are meant to catch poor workers (probably likewise with some extremely bad ones). Beware though, products and backgrounds repeat that aren't the same, but might look similar, so those ones aren't the 'trick' or known questions.

Saw you mention the shift+enter command not working. Happens occasionally to me, but just make sure you are pressing both at the same time. Maybe just press a bit harder too. I also tend to hit shift+enter on the right side of my keyboard as that is easier for me. Not sure if that could have been part of your issue (using shift on the left + enter on the right?)

These have been my bread and butter lately. I hit the cap 3-4 times in the last 10 days due to them, so I was honestly reluctant to share some of this, as some or all of you are effectively my 'competition', but decided I'd be a good person and pay back what I've been given. So, I would say, as tedious as it may be at first, stay with it, as they get easier, the more you have done them.

Also, in a later post, you put that you only had made $7.50 for the day a few hours after posting about these. Not trying to 'dog' you, but even using a mouse or touchpad with none of the tips I mentioned, it should be fairly easy to hit $10 per hour on these. Maybe you are thinking too deeply on some of them? I'm hitting $25/hr+ on them at this point after having done about 25,000 of them in the last month or so.

When these are up, if you have access, it's the type of hit to almost ignore everything else. The amount of time it takes to switch back and forth between tasks, makes something like these tasks much more optimal as far as making money compared to chasing the occasional survey that might pay better. Those will possibly be available later and switching might lower your hourly. It sounds like you decided not to do them cause they were taking too long, but then only made $7.50 hours later. Just keep grinding is my best advice.

*Lastly, and this is another good tip for life in general, but moreso for any type of batch work: ***Be careful with your wrists/ hands and the repetitiveness*** of hitting the same buttons with the same fingers/ wrist strain too. While batches like these are great, they can be brutal on the hands and wrists. So, take breaks as needed/ focus on good posture in both your body and especially your hands, etc. Change your wrist position, etc as needed. I've felt like I was getting carpel tunnel from working on a computer for years and now I'm extremely careful with my hands, as I've worked with them all my life. EDIT2: be careful with your eyes too/ eye strain. Taking breaks helps with this as well. Remember to look around, etc.

*Pro tip: If you are going to hit the max hits per day, which is 3800, stop at 3700 or 3750, if you think you can grab some more surveys that will make more money. Don't get locked out of other stuff for an extra 3 or 6 dollars.

Anyways, best of luck out there turkers. Any questions? ;-)

EDIT: For those of you that don't have master's, I randomly got master's about 5-10 years after mturking. It is possible, though seemingly random. So, don't expect it, but I got a huge batch reject when I was first on the site and then randomly got master's later on.

    Best of luck out there!

Yes, I would have mentioned that. I wear bifocals and have 3 "readers" of differing powers I use if I need to really work on something.
