02/17 - Miffed Monday

Saw (10) on my prolific tab only to check and they all pay from 3 to 6/hr and I don't qualify for half of them.

 

Bunch of excited posts over on the prolific reddit.

 

The reddits for these work platforms are occupied only by adults who act like children throwing a temper tantrum because they did not get dessert.

I remember joining mturk in 2013, and being so hyped to get masters. I'm like, I have no ADHD, I will literally brutalize myself until I finally get it. That never happened, its 2025. That was about a post that I saw the other day. Anyway, I really do regret all the time I spent on mturk making very little money in the relevant scheme of things, for the amount of time invested. I do highly miss being able to make money with little effort. I knew that it was dying years ago, but people on this forum told me it wasn't. It really seems it as come to the end, as all great, and not so great things do. Someone asked me the other day, if I still do the Amazon thing, I didn't even want to explain to them the bottomless pit that is left. I wish everyone the best.

 

I totally know where you're coming from. I joined MTurk in 2007-8 and have been at it on and off since then. I am lucky to get 10 bucks a day from there and the pay schedule sucks. I too had been excited about getting masters, but that never happened. I only turk now to add to the money I make on other sites.

 

what other sites do you use?

 

is the amazon batch gone already?

 

I also miss the old days. No masters here, either.

 

That's amazing and all. But that is like showing a rolls royce to kids in a poverty stricten area of africa and being like, look anything is possible.

 

on prolific, a requester has a followup survey I'm supposed to do. they emailed me about it on there. but I don't have it, it's just that thing where there's stuff on prolific and if you don't grab it immediately it disappears. I don't have time to literally constantly monitor my available work for a followup survey to flash by.

what are we supposed to do about getting rejected hits from this? some followup surveys reject your initial hit if you don't do the followup hit.

 

can you message the requester and ask what to do?

 

I did, and like 4 hours later he sent me a message that said he thinks it's up now. but I didn't see that message right away. so by the time I checked, it was gone again.

the requester had originally emailed me this morning in what looked like kind of a group email, saying hey do our followup survey ??? so that's when I first emailed them back. so I guess it's flown through my available hits at least twice today, but I've been checking and I never saw it.

Right now I am mostly using Qmee because I have several issues preventing me from using others like prolific, which I sure wish I could, sounds like that's the cash cow comparatively speaking.
