If you're wondering how you can get it - you probably can't anymore, they very likely stopped giving it out years ago, and considering the current dismal state of MTurk, I'd be very surprised if anyone there even remembers how to grant Masters.

All you can really do is get your numbers up, do a lot of different batches, and keep your fingers crossed. But I wouldn't hold my breath. The only plausible scenario I see where they might consider giving out Masters again is if they somehow accidentally end up nuking too many Masters accounts off the platform or if too many Masters accounts just stop turking, which is possible but probably not very likely in the near future.

Don't take studies from MU that offer up reimbursing you for buying products from other companies as a test. They aren't really reimbursing you.

From what I have read it is just a lie that they are not reimbursing. People are mad they are not getting 75 blank check no matter what they spent. Not helpful to spread nonsense.

 

They are on Prolific. They don't do the bonus on Prolific, they do it instead via Tremdomous, and they do it via a forced gift card instead of actually paying you back. You are effectively losing money if you decide to take the deal.

I'm not gonna lie to you brother, I rather have the blank check of even 40 dollars then have to deal with 50 dollars worth of gift cards.

Also, as an added point, that's explicitly against the rules for Prolific. You have to reimburse everything via the bonus system. So the people Grinching about this are actually completely reasonable about this.

 

I guess in a way both.. I wanted to get a Masters qualifications so that I can get better HITs but that is no longer possible now.

 

People saw the thread by someone excited they got an extra 25 over what they spent in addition to the base payment and a bunch of people got enticed by that idea. Everyone knew they were not being paid on prolific when they signed up for it. I don't think that should be accepted by prolific but people knew. I would agree it is effectively losing money if it was say amazon/walmart/store specific gift cards but I assume it was one of those prepaid major credit card company cards. Is that not accurate? What do you mean about forced gift card/deal?

 

I have no dog in this fight, but out of curiosity couldn't you just return what you bought for a refund if the compensation wasn't high enough?
