It was bound to happen. I'm still kinda sad that it's officially going away for good. At least they gave us 30 days in advance so I'll guess I'll just try to make as much as I can until the end date. ANyone know where VRAPI will migrate to? Are they going to prolific or what?

 

I wonder if suspended folks that never got their last payout will finally get it, or if Amazon is officially stealing that money. Money was always there when folks got reinstated, even the few that were months or years later, so they could claim they didn't steal it, but now there is no path to that outcome.

 

They just got the news and are trying to figure that out.

 

oh yeah, hopefully mturk fixes that before the end date!

 

are you part of their slack channel? i mostly do VRAPI now, which still nets me a few hundred a month etc, but I have no contact with them since I can't find their slack ( used to be a member years ago then lost my credentials)

 

I am not, I'm with Turkopticon and a worker who is in their slack told us.

 

I'm asking that worker if there is a way for you to get back in the slack so you can get updates.

We don't post as much there anymore, but are on bluesky, linkedin and more recently Instagram!

Do you know where VRAPI is going?
Prolific doesn't seem like the right setup for them. Will they let all of us with the qual know what's up?

 

I'm about to hop into a meeting about getting press on this. Anyone willing to talk now that you don't have to worry about losing an account? No guarantee anyone will pick the story up, just preemptively asking. So far talking to Gizmodo, Wired and CNBC

 

We are actively exploring the alternative platforms that would allow us to continue working with our current analyst pool after mturk closes, and one of the first questions we are asking all of the mturk competitors is if we can bring our analysts with us - like, if there's anything we can do to expedite account creations and/or avoid account denials. Of course, no guarantees or promises, but it is one of our top priorities, as high up on the list as things like "can we post batches" and "are there unique quals"

 

maybe toss "will you give more than 30 days notice before vaporizing" onto the question pile

 

how workers are now that they can't be suspended

 

MTurk runs on autopilot. There's no good reason to take it down.

 

i gave up on the masters qual years ago, but always thought i might eventually get the TV masters badge. rip
