1. The forum & main site will stay up indefinitely after MTurk shuts down in case anyone needs anything. I assume a handful of things will break after MTurk vaporizes & I'll fix it as fast as I can to keep the two main parts of the site online.

I don't know how people can honestly do this and say they are putting forth a good effort for hours a day. They are different than me and therefore wrong/liars. I feel like my brain is being sandblasted concentrating on inane meaningless nonsense trying to make a decision between which two 6-7/10 qualities eek it out. Like fingernails grating on a chalkboard for like 90% of these things. Forums/reddits full of people clamoring like addicts for it and I can't even force myself to do it. Trying to force myself to care about something meaningless to me is impossible. Go through all these qualifications and tests to get tasks that pay the same or less. Put me out to pasture. Block it all until I am desperate for money I guess.

I've been more of a lurker on forums than a poster, but I've been around the block. I guess the same as a lot of workers. I remember that forum with Flora modding and the guy who said he made over $50,000 per year on mturk. Even after the forum died I remember checking in every so often until the site completely closed and Flora would still be posting daily. I remember some of the other forums that were a lot busier back in their heyday. I was even on the Turkopticon forum that was kind of hidden and was shocked to find out they were still around not that long ago doing great work helping people get unsuspended.

Like a lot of people who stuck around, it's because I went from an absolutely naive novice who didn't have the slightest clue about programming or scripting or anything to figuring out at least the basics to make batches easier and better paying. It took me years and years to realise there were more than a few tech pros, or at least people way more knowledgeable than me about it all, that were utilising mturk to its fullest. But when you're a lurker and a lot on public forums is left unsaid, it's sort of always hard to understand the real state of things.

I lucked into some great quals which kept me busy most years, and when I got comfy with a long-lasting qual I'd sort of drift out of keeping up with the forum communities for long periods of time, until the qual or enough of the quals dried up and I had to jump back in with the masses on unqualed work like I was starting all over again until I got some new good qual and got absorbed into qual work again. Until the last year or two, which were continually worse, but I made do with what was left.

When I first joined Turkerview the site was still fairly hopping with stuff like some sort of forum Survivor games going on. The script was great too and a big step up from Turkopticon and some of the other stuff I'd been using. But honestly I still don't really have any idea what Qualifeye is or was. I always meant to check more into it when I was around but then would drift away into my qual work where using external worker and requester overview stuff wasn't nearly as important for long periods.

Now I've stuck around and I think this is the ONLY really surviving mturk forum, right? And then there's the subreddit. I think I've also heard about a discord that I really should've joined but never got around.

From my limited perspective @ChrisTurk is one of if not the major player left in the mturk (and beyond!) community overseeing things and helping. And I also have known of @Kadauchi and @Tjololo for years and years who've been so crazy helpful too. And there's been lots of other crazy helpful people over the years too! Just want to say a gigantic, enormous thank you to everyone who's ever been helpful in any way!

Good luck to everyone wherever you go from here!

I started out on mturkforum (oh, hand the hits worth turking for reddit page!) in 2014, took one look at mturkgrind and was scared to death of how busy it was and people using mturk lingo that I couldn't understand. Eventually I joined mturkgrind and made it my forum home because I made the most money interacting with them. Then in 2016 there was the great mtg rebellion and mturkcrowd opened. dabbled on both sites for a while till mtg closed. Then at some point after that (i don't remember) mturkview opened and everyone was posting avatars with pink bows in them, so I joined and did the same. Then everyone remeved the pink bows, making me look crazy.

    I still love u guys.

my friend i played ffxiv with told me about mturk and I worked on it for about a year pretty much raw with minimal scripts. then i started doing sergs and other batchwork. dunno what lead me to come here actually, i was never really on any forums previously, i think i had an MTG account but just kind of lurked. anyways, my friend and i would just grind ffxiv duties and stuff and scrape HITs in between. good times tbh. weirdly i've been thinking about getting back into ffxiv the last couple months before the closing announcement was made

I just tried to accept one of those Panos Ipeirotis demographic HITs that have been around for a long, long time. I thought that would be a nice final HIT to do (in sort of a poetic, full circle way). It's not allowing me to accept it, though.

@ChrisTurk I'm also interested in your platform. You're one of the few people I believe could fill the void.

I joined in 2017 and I remember being all over this forum and hustling like hell the first few years before I found patterns that worked better for me. MTurk helped me earn something serious while I was basically bedridden sick until I learned about gluten sensitivities. My real favorites left but I stayed up on the C-SATS lunch hours. Could never snag that STR### qual I was curious about tho :emoji_sob:

MTurk has been dead for a while but the end still seems surreal.
