I checked while waiting for her to respond and it looks like Chewy closely monitors Amazon, at least for my dog's food. It's $51.98 on both.

 

I order stuff off both depending on which is cheaper at the time. I get a lot of discounts from chewy every month or two as well. The cat food I feed Bearnie is somehow 13.57 more on Amazon and they don't prime it so the shipping is obscene. They prime the smaller bag but even that is more expensive compared to chewy and I get free shipping with chewy from ordering more than 49 bucks of stuff at once. The kitty cat glucosamine is cheaper on chewy too, for the same exact brand. When something is the same price (and sometimes it's exactly the same) I will prime it just to get it more quickly.

Yeah that sounds exactly what my experience was like when I set it up for my parents.

I've seen Chewy on Amex deals pretty frequently. I think it's usually $25 back on $75? I looked just now and don't have one currently though

The dog food is about the same price between the two websites but when it comes to the cat food, 58.99 versus 71.98 is a bit of a difference! the other food he eats is 33.44 on amazon and 13.99 on chewy. I'm not sure wtf is up with amazon when it comes to that, but I'm sure as hell getting it from chewy instead at that point. There are times when it's within a dollar, and then I'll either prime it or add it to an existing order. I try to vary the cats wet food a bit so I check the prices on both sites before I order. Sometimes there is a huge difference, sometimes there isn't.

I don't use Amex deals but Chewy sends me promotional stuff from time to time. I got 15 bucks off my last order cause they randomly sent me a coupon. Bearnie costs more to feed than the dogs at this point, so I'll take any chance to save some dough. He's doing much better though, so I'll gladly burn my spending money on frou frou expensive cat stuff.
