10 minutes going slow

 

Dude, when Bearnie was sick I got totally different advice from 3 different vets about what to do when he came home. It was super frustrating. I went with the advice of the vet I ageed with most at that point. That vet also told me that Bearnie had the cutest little mouth and was a super chill dude, so I immediately liked him best because YES ,Bearnie's little emo mouth is adorable!

But yeah, mostly people suck.

There's a lady in a room right now who, *shakes my head* is having her dane's ears pinned (like, to make them stand up) and she cut him pretty good taking the bandages off. She said she had an appointment at her normal vet at 11 (it was 9 when she came in) but wanted us to look anyways. She's now bickering w/ our DOD and the BREEDER as to how/if it can be fixed. It's a 2in slice, right on the edge of the ear. Can't glue that shit together, could maybe stitch but it'll have scarring (which the ears already looked fucked b/c she fucking clipped and pinned them). DOD (who is a Grinch anyways) finally just said, "well, whatever you and the breeder decide, let me know" and left.

 

Well, that just made me super angry. That lady is the worst.

Fun story: I worked at a vet clinic on military base years ago in germany. German's do not dock their dogs, it's considered illegal to do so actually. So since we're on their turf, of course we didn't do it either (and we weren't equipped for it regardless). People would come in or call us and get so upset when we told them they wouldn't be able to dock their dogs tails or ears.

Declawing of cats is becoming illegal in a lot of places here. A lot of vets won't do it either. Some are following suit for the ears and tails too. But of course some idiot w/ a pair of scissors will always do it for you. (shit you not, there is a guy a few towns down who does it this way and people refer their friends to him allt he time).
People get hella pissed when I tell them we don't do it here. Uh, EMERGENCY is in our name...... we don't even do vaccines, why the fuck do you think we'd crop ears!?

 

I completely forgot about the cat declawing! Also illegal. Some downright angry folks about that too. We'd offer softpaw instead. Then I'd get folks calling me trying to find out which adjoining countries it wasn't illegal in smh. Charlie (my kitty) is fully clawed and I wouldn't have it any other way (much to my couch's detriment)

I'm sorry if anyone here does think its a good idea to declaw a cat, or dock a dog. I will never agree with you.

Declawing is just evil. It's basically ripping their fingernails out while they are awake. Baby Bird was fucking traumatized by learning that as a kiddo. Not to mention, if Bearnie or Porgy ever got out of the house and got lost, they would be super screwed over without claws. I don't even understand why someone would want to do that.

I would totally take that thing to the post office and make them get it out.
