I talked to a buddy of mine who normally gets really excited about passive money-making opportunities, and we were set to set up my 2 unused desktops (since I was in an RV and couldn't hook them up) to stay at his place and mine Ethereum with some new RX480s he'd be putting in them. I'd provide the computers and do tech support, he'd provide the RX480$/space/kWh, and we'd split the $ down the middle.

But by the time I got back in the area, the price of RX480s shot way up and Ethereum's future started to look uncertain because of the shift away from "proof of work" algorithms.

Might've been a good money-making opportunity but I'm thinking it's just a bit too widespread and mainstream now.

i thought about putting money in to the amd cards, for it. but eh. the risk/reward wasnt worth it. Now, i have an irl friend that bought about 50 BTC in 2010ish/2011 (i forget) andddd yeah. i think the residual of his success rubbed off, and kinda persuaded me to try. i had the chance, i thought it was a scam ;.;
