11/18 - Salient Saturday!

So, I made homemade red chile sauce, and all the recipes had an assortment of different peppers listed. I grabbed 3 of these, and for some reason never thought to check the scoville units involved? So 2/3 were very low, but 1 was super high in comparison. Like 2,500 vs 30,000.

Guess which one I had WAY more of, because it was easier to buy?

It's so tasty, I keep eating it, but I'm also on fire.



I don't normally fuck up in such an amazing way, but today I did. Luckily, I sorta realized it was hotter than I meant and split it up instead of using all of it for the meal. Apparently I shoulda used a titch less. It's still super tasty though.

I've been getting these green chiles at Costco and they're dope.


Good chance they have that stuff in your area since you're pretty close to NM. Also, check to see if they have The Bossy Gourmet salsa. It's fucking fire if you want something spicy.


And yes, I still have my Halloween table cloth out because I'm pretty sure my wife took the Thanksgiving and Christmas ones.

I find it charming that you tried by using a tablecloth at all!

I used Ancho, chipotle, and arbol chiles. So natch I used a ton of arbol chiles (like 2 oz of dried ones woops) instead of only a few.

It's been a long time since I derped in the kitchen like this. I dumped the beef and the charro beans in a colander and let the excess liquid drain, which made things far more tolerable as far as heat level.

It's still freakishly tasty. I'm sure I will be shooting fire out my butt later, but I still enjoyed my dinner enough to go for seconds.

Matt blew me off for dinner and I'm half tempted not to warn him that the leftovers are as hot as Satan's ash hole.

I've seen both of those brands and will definitely try them now! Thanks for the heads up my dude.

I have a ton of red sauce leftover, so I'm gonna freeze it into cubes and just use it in smaller quantities. See, I didn't screw up so much as made a concentrated chile sauce!
