That can definitely said for several websites, though it's not always so.

But the thing about the userbase of a tool is that it's not a trait inherent to the tool.

If TO decided to shut down their servers permanently and the horde of mTurk peasants came over to post on TV instead, it would significantly degrade the value of the data.

I totally believe it. I've seen him post about it. I've even seen him post some code to help filter the userbase who posts reviews (not sure whether he implemented that minimum HIT requirement, but I know he at least considered it, and the sentiment / hourly gap filter was a nice move). Anything that's code-based like this is "inherent to the tool".

But any policing of the data beyond that isn't inherent to the tool itself - that's just another userbase factor (the user, in this case, being the admin). Let's say CT gets hospitalized for 3 months because of a car wreck (or whatever, I dunno). Because this filtering isn't something inherent to the tool, the quality of the data will go down (unless someone else takes over his duties, which is, once again, a userbase factor).

I not saying I'm against changing the way the swarm is scored, but I feel you are one of the people that are at or near the top of the leaderboard every week. I feel I am a well-informed sports fan, mean I follow them regularly with the exception of hockey (I follow that like I need to breath), I think you should have more confidence in your picks. This week I did exceptionally well and I not saying that to brag although I have a right to I'm saying it because I have been picking well the last month or so and I put points on the line because of that. I think that you should trust yourself and go all out.

This discussion has gone on longer than I really intended it to lmao.

The initial remark about TurkerView was just an off-handed comment to someone living in a glass house who shouldn't throw stones.

 

TO wouldn't have such a shit userbase if submitting reviews wasn't a time sink.

But its not, so the only people that waste their time submitting reviews are either people that just spam garbage tier reviews or people that are so butthurt over 1 rejection that they feel the need to take it out on the requesters TO page

Like, I'm not gonna waste 3 minutes writing a review for a hit that took 4 minutes

Yeah, I think you're right but the problem was that by the time I realized that there was an issue (a number of minutes later) the HIT could no longer be submitted (it had expired or my computer was glitchy and it returned it or something). Perhaps the requester will help me out but I highly doubt it.
