I think what it comes down to is a combination of not wanting to appear like we're promoting any activity a requester or web host may object to and wanting to promote the little used parts of the site.

Only do that if you live in an area that has decent sale activity for whatever you'd be buying. Buying in the short term is great, but only if what you want is desirable to the market at large, i.e., don't buy a one bedroom condo or a two bedroom house, if there's an over inventory of those on the market and two-bedroom condos or three bedroom homes and up is what actually sells in a reasonable amount of time near list price.

I don't think either requesters or web hosts will be very concerned. Bluelight's still up, after all.

I think these people just don't want to see a specific type of content, but they're too antsy about explicitly asking people to stop for their sake. That's a shame, though. I'd consider controlling myself if someone asked politely, I think most people would, but no one wants to be told to stop talking just because the things they talk about are 'shameful' ("what if a minister's wife sees this") and that they should know better. No one likes the implicit threat of shame.

 

I was really concerned about this too. What we ended up doing was making some very calculated decisions about increasing our credit scores which ended up being easier than I thought, and then when it came down to it I drained a 401k to come up with the cash. In the end though our total out of pocket for everything was only about $5,000 which is a good chunk but not as much as I was afraid it might be.

 

Really appreciate this response. Gives me some hope that we can do it too! What about the taxes on draining that 401k? Seems like that would be pretty killer.

 

A perfect example of how far I have come last night someone mentioned about my avi bothering their eyes and such so I decided to not bring it back...now back in the drunk days I would have gone all C's and F's on said person

edit I know it doesn't quite relate the same with your point but my point is they sort of asked nicely I guess and I was all "sure fair enough I'll keep it off"

 

Oh I hate moving so I knew once I got in one I'd be good for probably 10 years at least. Or until I can afford to get out of redneck USA. We've already decided long ago we're gonna take our social security and support the economy in a different country for the remainder of our lives.
