when i'm doing work on mturk i expect to be paid for my time, so it's not really all relative. if i'm choosing to do a hobby that's different because there's no expectation of being paid for my time

 

The requester gets more participation when they offer an incentive for a screener, a pool of participants to pull for other surveys, etc.

This is the same reason why I do some penny batches because apparently I like the "auditioning for the cheer squad" feeling.

or maybe Amazon chooses to follow their updated TOS and force off any hit that gets reported for "posting a hit some works might be required to return"

 

Wasting time is another issue for me in this topic; I just get angry for those unpaid screeners since they could pay 2 or 5 cents, the university will not collapse if they do that.
I wasted my time for arguing about rejections in which I knew I was right and eventually got my 10 cents anyway. If you think about efficiency, sometimes you should not even bother sending emails for rejections but if you are me, POLAR BEARS NEVER FORGIVE.

So providing useless data (demo's that don't qualify you for their study) is worth paying for? Filling out a demo survey isn't providing anything of value to anyone. If you think knowing worker IUSHUDSHUASUYHD is a dude then why not just push them to pay Amazon that 50c fee for the premium qual?

I'll take being an idiot over placing full responsibility & blame on Reqs for something that is mostly a platform problem. Nice of you to come out of your creepy watch hole for the hot takes.
