Yeah, when I got my most recent laptop I got a killer deal so it isn't really fair to directly compare, but I got better specs for less than a third of the price (well, less the big ssd but those are routinely <$200)

Sure, but unless you're editing 4k/5k in a production environment, who needs a monster ssd? A grand will get you a good 4 bay NAS, router, and 8/16 TB with some cash left over, which seems like a way better investment for almost any home user.
