Everyone gave good answers above, but it's also relevant we were at like 4-6k in elevation the whole time, so between the lack of tree cover + the sheer amount of time in the sun + the thin cloud cover, it was the perfect way to burn to a crisp!

I scared the shit out of some backpackers on Sunday, because one of the few decent places to catch a nap with shade in the high elevation desert is under a trail sign, and I have no shame. Birb needs a power nap when she needs a power nap!
