02/22 - Working Out Wednesday!

Someone said they got rejected on the hotels. While none of my 1158 hotels got rejected I want to narrow down what exactly cause the rejection. Did you do them too fast? Did you let the 10 minute timer bake a little bit?

The only reason I can think of that is causing the rejection is that you blitz the hit faster than his estimated time of 50 seconds. I always let mine baked for like 1-3 minuets.

 

I know for sure he isn't manually ejecting these.

 

Of about 650 hits I caught precisely one rejection. Blazed through.

I figured it out, the stupid hit wanted to be done in Firefox only, but the only place it said that was in the hit description, which I usually don't look at. By the time I saw it and reloaded the hit in Firefox, I got the "no more work to be done" message. So they got 40 free transcriptions from me and I'm out $1.50

 

interesting, could it be that some of the hotel hits were traps and were actually attention checks?

 

Talking about the Cliff DesPeaux ones? I did a few hundred and they all approved. I spent maybe 10-15 secs on each.

 

*shrug* such is life there was only 5 or 6 things in it. not a huge loss

Yeah but some guy like a dozen page back said his hits were alternating between rejection and acceptance, which was puzzling to me.

I too had 0 rejects on these fancy hotel hits, but that's cause the Bird didn't do any of them. This is what some of us would call a post of shit quality.

if you do "1, 2, 3" it doesn't take too long.

 

I'm assuming there's a self contradiction thing. Those HITs definitely gave you the same hotel multiple times, maybe the system was jigged in such a way to start rejecting you if your answers differed by more than a few points.

This is how I, a rational idiot, would do this. I'm definitely no statistician though. If we're considering what they regularly do to surveys to assess whether or not people are paying attention, ugh, that's a whole thing. I imagine there might also be a thing for 'trenching', or people who kept answering every photo with the same number. This sort of thing is really, really easy for a statistician or surveyor to detect.

 

That would explain since I really only had 2 choice max value if the hotel looks gud, and 0 value if it doesn't. I didn't mess with any number in between. As you can imagine most of my answers were max value and therefore consistent.
