    put a rubber snake anywhere you don't want a bird to nest and they will stay away. worked great when birds decided it was a good idea to build a nest above my back door

    I'm so hard pressed to do that because we have so many good birds around too. I had a ren nesting in my front porch this season so we just didn't use it. She made a nest out of one of our hanging planters that had been set down in a chair. But now we have a giant red paper wasp nest sitting in the porch because we didnt use it. I just hate running off the good ones.

    maybe put in a birdhouse near the house so you can still enjoy the good ones but discourage them from nesting in parts of your house they can cause damage depending on where they decide to nest
