my trackpad has started to revolt against clicking and some letters need to be punched to work. i fear a swollen battery but i'm just closing my eyes real tight and pretending it's not an issue until i can afford something else. it has served me well for years with so, so much ridiculous abuse, i hope it can do me this last solid and stay functional for a few more months.

Same. I have put mine through a lot. I'm not necessarily SURPRISED that they keys are going out, but I do hate that it's spreading. A new keyboard is 700 dollars, and to fix it is absolute MADNESS. You can buy the part for cheap but it's seriously a maze of screws and detailed steps. Easily a multiple hour project that I don't have it in me to do.

My thinkpad has those little plastic lever things, and when I take them out to clean or whatever - they break, so then I have to superglue directly onto the rubber thingy. It's unfortunate.
