Honest answer? Because of my job. I won't take my purse inside with me when I'm showing vacant houses to people, so I need pockets for my phone and keys.

I also locked myself out of a house once because I had no pockets. I was just taking pics of it and when I got inside I set my purse down, the house key and my phone. I went back out of the door to get something from my car without realizing the door had two horrid features: an automatic close and automatic lock feature. I had to drive to a nearby gas station without my license (still in the house in my purse) and beg them to let me use their phone to call my office to have someone bring me another key. They just could not understand why I didn't have a cell phone on me even though I explained it like 5 times. So. Pockets. They save the day every time and prevent being humiliated by begging someone to let you use their landline because payphones don't exist anymore.
