I bought a car yesterday and the finance guy was a real dick about my Mturk income. I had to explain "Gig work" like 10 times. Luckily with my Mturk Income and my wife's salary I got approved.

 

For him being a dick I'd bring in payment in whatever coin Turk hits paid you. Big sack of pennies and nickels.

Even with traditional work, the finance guy will always try to make it sound bad so they can convince you whatever finance rate they give you is the "best" they can give you.

 

I had this issue when I was going to buy a used car earlier this year and wanted a loan directly through my bank. They looked at my mTurk income like I had written numbers in crayon on some receipt tape.

I got an 8% rate which is about what I expected with my credit score.

 

I would never mention mturk income when it comes to getting loans. Since we dont get 1099's, it's a tough thing to really prove and use as income depending how you do your taxes.

Plus explaining to anybody how we make income can be a runaround. "You do surveys for 50c? well that sounds stupid." I mean yeah, but what if you found 50c every 5 minutes, or possibly a dollar in there somewhere? Now who's stupid?
