Things are honestly easier now and just as upgradable. While intel is a dick and changes their CPU socket every year AMD keeps theirs around for a lot longer.

Although to be honest normally you don't upgrade the CPUs in PCs these days and you just do ram/gpu/storage as CPUs have stopped progressing nearly as fast as they used to.

That is true .moving those badboys around when adding a CD drive or a second hard drive was a pain in the ass.

I also don't miss parallel ports.

I got a yarn bag. haven't used it yet. a better idea might be hang the skein on a paper towel holder.

 

And these days people would prob laugh at you if you even installed a CD/DVD drive in a new computer. I have 7 drives so I don't even want to imagine how much of a pain in the ass that would be with IDE cables.
