My advice to you: Get MTS ASAP. Look up the reviews for a requester before doing the hit. If it does not load or you are in doubt, return it. Maybe stick to surveys at first to start. If you do batches, try 1 or 2 to see if you get approved, try and avoid mass rejections. Everyone is different, I have about 4 months experience, I do very little transcription for fear of rejection. Join a Facebook group as well, its much easier to get advice there, just gather advice from wherever you can, youtube and Reddit also.

 

Probably an actual step above Facebook, to be honest. I'm not familiar enough with mturk on Youtube to comment on that, though.

 

Thank-you, Shirley. There is certainly a lot to take-in & it seems a little overwhelming from all I've been reading. I don't know how long the typical break-in time is for a new Turker, but I'm going to do as much research as I possibly can & I've been reading like a mad-woman all day.

Question: Is Chrome really that much better for mTurk, than Firefox?

Yes, I use chrome primarily because of my MTS extension. But I also keep Firefox as a backup.
Also Im not sure if this is still true or not, but I think you can only do 100 hits per day when you first start so dont waste it on pennies. Try and catch some well paying surveys. Just go at your own pace and try not to make any mistakes while first starting out and learning how it works. It took me about 2 months and 13 rejections to truly figure out what was going on!
