    Sigh. I think I'm being a scum here, being angry about paying taxes on my earnings. That is... not normal I think

    Yeah fines and penalties, that would not be fun. I was just wondering because I've had people send me gifts through PayPal, family send me money etc, I never reported it(or filed taxes, when I did file, I didn't declare those sums)

    *nah that's part of it, yes still don't feel good about paying, but I also don't want fines or penalties, etc*

    Not anymore drunk me says; I got my W2 from work and will show mturk stuff as other compensation, TurboTax is ready to submit, but will wait to ask staff in the Uni just in case but good to go.

    Gifts are not income and you can get upto $14000 in gifts a year before there is a tax on it.

    EDIT: I'm tired...The way I wrote that is a little off. The person giving the gift is technically responsible for the tax if they give more than $14k to one person in a year and IIRC there is a limit on total amount that can be gifted in a year to more than one person before the gifter pays tax that way. Sorry for the run-on, tired.
