No...its on me....she was supposed to be able to start walking at 6 weeks, shes now at 7 and she's progressing very slowly. And basically through the entire process she's been difficult to say the least lol, the other day she was complaining how she can't go anywhere and all I could think was I'm jealous you can sit and no one asks you for shit.

 

Sounds to me there needs to be a family counsel meeing, and remind the kids that it's a benevolant dictatorship. Also, to remind the wife that they need to pull their weight of get no privledges. (bonafides: 17 years working as a paralegal in a family law practice > and I've heard this story hundreds of times.)

This. At some point I would assume the kids will be out on their own in some form. They'll need those life skills to get by, and if they don't have them, they'll learn them pretty damn quick.

 

Best way to explain it is my son is the kid that signs up for 800 extra curriculars and gets a job so he's never around....my daughter is 16 going on 5, there is literally no way to get her to do anything. If you take all of her shit away she just goes to bed.

Shes ADHD, ODD etc etc. so you basically just create a massive fight.

The other advise I'd give here is see about family counseling or at least 1:1 counseling through the Missouri dss or, check out www.needymeds.org for a sliding scale mental health/counseling facility near you. Best of luck, mate. I'm rooting for you.

 

At 16 and 17 you've got to get your kids doing more. I know your wife is not supporting you in this but it sounds like you have to put your foot down. My kids are grown, 21 and 23, but at that age they had jobs and certain things that they were expected to do around the house. Part of your job is to teach them to be responsible and independent. If they are catered to they will never do anything for themselves. Has your wifes Dr said anything about her slow recovery? Maybe you guys have to go see him - I know that is another thing to do, but maybe she is not following through with all the therapy she is supposed to be doing? I'm really sorry your family is not supporting you more.

She's generally a slow healer to be honest.

The son usually helps out he's just never around....daughter on the other hand there is literally nothing you can do to get her to do anything. She moves extremely slowly, she ignores you that's just who she is, she does this to teachers at school.

 

No, no, no, no, no. That is not fair to you. Parents don't have to do it all. My 7 and 10 year olds have housework to do and help with dinner. It's good for them to learn. I don't have them scrubbing toilets but the can put laundry up and rake the yard.

Sounds to me like you might just need to let them have a melt down for a few days. If your son says he just has to go somewhere (and it's not work) take his keys from him. He will get over it eventually and do the things he needs to do then he can leave.

 

You are terrible at this.
