There is a compensation hit up for anyone that did the ZLABNeuroAI.

It was like two weeks ago. It was the one with the separate window for the task, and the mturk window not submitting afterwards

 

Ambiguous questions are annoying in studies (when the ambiguity is NOT intended as part of the research).

When two reasonable and intelligent participants could take opposite interpretations on the meaning of a question, that's a badly written question.

I chose a "middle" option on one question that could easily be interpreted in either of two opposite ways. There was no way to be sure which interpretation the researcher intended.

Ugh, timed out. My bad. — Memo to self: Don't queue up 2 studies and then break for lunch before starting.

 

Why does this feel like a trick?

The following questionnaire is a 6 question customer satisfaction survey. HOWEVER, please answer the following questions with as LITTLE thought and effort as possible. Your purpose in this study is to provide a low-quality, inattentive response. You will receive payment for simply completing the survey, regardless of thoughtfulness or quality.

"Study 2g" on Prolific: Danger, Will Robinson! — One of the last questions requires a choice based on alleged prior information that doesn't exist. There is NO option to give the correct answer (which would be "none of the above").

I hate it when they do stuff like that.

 

It may have been an error by the researcher designing the study. — I'll send a note in case they may want to fix it.

If the apparent invalidity of the question (and lack of "None" response option) was entirely intentional — then it's bad because it puts the participant in an quandary about how to respond if at all (and if choosing to return, "the pain" of sacrificing pay after completing 99% of the survey).

 

Yeah, that was was awesome, when I figured out what it was.

After having participated in hundreds or thousands of studies, most of us don't always closely read every detail of every Consent Form at the start of every survey anymore ... but do we always save a copy? — I always do, just in case I might need the IRB information or whatever.

Another reason to save the consent form:
At least once I've seen attention-check information buried deep in the text of the consent form, requiring you to actually read all of that agreement text to find the bit of info you'll need to pass the check question on the next page (and of course there was no back-button)...

 

If you use MTS, there is a screen capture of the HIT in the HIT Tracker. You can usually access the study link, just open it in an incognito window in case it pops up that you have already taken it.

There is also a Tampermonkey script that does the same thing.
