A lot of ppl on the old forums would make 100 per day with surveys, but that doesn't exist anymore.

They were not making a 100 a day with surveys. Maybe 50 with surveys and a batch or two thrown in and some of them may very well have been full of shit. I was here back then and there were never that many surveys on the site. Maybe 100 worth of surveys as an occasional unicorn day but it was not a consistent thing. Prolific started taking some of the surveys 2015-2016ish. People like to talk about how great things were back then but if you were on the boards at that time it was just as much whining as it is now. Some of us who got very good at doing batches and knew how to make custom javascript to help with those batches would make over a hundred from time to time when good batches posted but it was not an everyday thing. I've made over a hundred 3 times this week (and over 200 twice) but I could not make a 100 every single day if no good batches posted. Making 100 a day with surveys sounds both miserable and ridiculous. The only difference between now and then were a few more good batches. Bye Bye OCMP, Sergey, pinterest, etc.

I was on the boards back then too. That is your opinion. Congratulations.

Batches were always more profitable back then. People would make 300 per day. But many made 100 per day on surveys. And yes they were miserable im sure.

My conspiracy is that this is all the same guy or a group of people in a discord or something having fake cringe arguments on the internet.

I am genuinely grateful that I starting turking right after high school , even though it has been on and off. Went to school, caught up in life, gig work, move back with parents, and now assisting with qualtrics. full circle moment here.

I was doing MTurk on the side for many years, kept telling myself that many people are doing it and that if I'm careful nothing bad will happen. Then eventually got sucked in, started spending hours every day doing MTurk, and when I wasn't doing it, I was thinking of doing it, stressing out, wondering if there were some batches I was missing out on. Sometimes I would get on my computer at like 3 AM just to do a little turking. It was affecting my personal life, my relationships, my job. Then eventually some of the people close to me had an intervention and convinced me that I needed to finally do something about it. So I went to rehab and am now 3 years MTurk-free. I still get tempted when I see someone doing MTurk, but I keep reminding myself that life is beautiful and that I don't need MTurk to feel great, and so far I've been pretty successful at resisting the urges. :emoji_fingers_crossed: #blessed #onedayatatime

That is notable, so I'm surprised if the legal agreement pages for workers (Participation Agreement & Acceptable Use Policy) don't explicitly say exactly that.

The Participation Agreement does say: "...if you are a non-US worker, you agree that you will perform all services under this Agreement outside the United States and will notify us if you are performing services inside the United States."

I'm trying and failing to find where that is indicated in the PA and/or AUP. — If it is stated elsewhere, I'd be interested to see the source, because I want to know all the rules that govern participation. If reading the PA & AUP is not enough to learn all the rules, I'd like to know what else I need to read (and should've read years ago when I signed up). It's embarrassing to realize that I've been turking for years without ever knowing all the rules.

There have been many forum posts about it. I'm not sure of the actual citation from Amazon. Here is one post.

never mind I found the rule in five seconds.

I'm a U.S. citizen living outside the U.S. and I am getting the message "Tax Status Not Supported".
Unfortunately, Mechanical Turk currently does not support U.S. persons residing outside the United States.

If you selected "Yes" to the U.S. person question in the interview in error, please update your tax information. If you selected "Yes" correctly, you may retake the tax interview if your circumstances change.
