I would recommend the IBR, PAYE, REPAYE, etc. income based plans if you guys have student loans.

 

I paid mine off, had them refunded back to me, then got on SAVE, now they say pay it all was wondering if other people here also still have student loans

 

My payments were set to zero per month, based on my mturk income. I forget the exact plan that I qualified for.

 

are you in PAYE? iirc paye is the one that doesn't add on any interest. save does add on interest. so I have been thinking about switching to paye.

 

I think that is it, but don't remember.

I still have them because I went back as a nontraditional student. I pay $50 per month, which I usually make with surveys. I borrowed $5000 and I still have over $1000. At one point I had gone into default and they were taking some from the tax refund every year, then it paused during COVID, then they let me go back into repayment.

 

It feels like it is 4pm with this weather, looked at the clock right now..10am. Lol

I keep this money in Paypal and Chime and last time I checked, they aren't "checking" or "savings" accounts and are less likely to be taken from me. fingers crossed Eff this dude that wants to dismantle education but charge me for something that he never had to pay for himself... While they aren't FDIC insured, I feel that its much safer in this current environment. (Coming from the finance degree that I'm too much of a hippie to ever have used )

How would someone take your checking or savings account money? Wouldn't a simple fraud complaint at your bank get it back for you?

 

It's mostly a political football. They are going after only high earners (not turkers), with wage garnishment, and also people too lazy to sign up for an IBR plan causing them to go into default.
