Well f*** that then. A requester overseas negotiated to work off-platform (also because their HIT structure was incredibly awkward and would've invited rejects, but not this way), but will only pay via wire transfer. Apparently their accounting department won't even allow them to pay me in Amazon Giftcards.

I'd tell them they can mail a check or no dice. I wouldn't give my bank account number to just any company and especially not a foreign one that I wasn't very familiar with.
