I'm fairly new too and so far the only thing I've been able to find with consistent numbers is Crowdsurf transcriptions. They take about a minute a piece and pay around 10 cents a minute.

I'd recommend if you do them, and you decide to care about the internal crowdsurf score, skip any hit that has math, because the reviewers seem ignore the crowdsource guidelines for math and penalize you for following the instructions.

Anyone have tips on reading dry material and actually absorbing it? I'm finally in my first upper level accounting class and the chapters are incredibly dull. I like the material but the way it's presented is killing me

 

I feel like if these chapters were HITs I would be done in no time

 

Thank you for that suggestion, I just started doing some Crowdsurf also. It's a little confusing to figure out every guideline, but I'm working on it, I don't want any rejections. They seem to always have huge batches available, so if I can figure it out, it could be a good way to get the numbers up.

 

I'll be honest.. I haven't ever done a CS hit but I have heard some weird things with them. As far as rejects go I think that you are safe but hopefully someone who knows more about them can chime in.

 

A lot of the time what looks like a huge batch isn't. They will have 100k available and there will only be a few in the batch, with the rest ghosted. The .10 per min pay is likely only made by the best transcription people out there. I was at about .04 per min. They never rejected me, but they based the bonuses on quality scores and unfairly lowered mine. Also there were many hits that would have brought my qual score back up but those never were graded for some reason. For numbers I'd stick to mylikes/venue quality, for money I'd look elsewhere. If you are good at transcribing there are other sites which pay better than crowdsurf/speechpad.

Huh. It worked on mine asap. Maybe because you have 3 tabs running HF at different time intervals on one monitor, TH and Reddit on the second, and 2 different animes (one clean one straight-up porn) playing on the third?
I dunno, just troubleshooting here

 

Pinterest, on the rare occasion they work, and dont try to ram gold up my ass, pay well.

 

I did Crowdsurf on mTurk, then on their private platform for a few months. The guidelines change every so often, but it mostly makes sense. The exception is some jobs are special, and will modify the guidelines slightly (for example, you're not supposed to use slang in previous guidelines--there are jobs where the company will tell Crowdsurf slang is acceptable, and then you can use slang words normally).

If you're going to do them, do not do them on Mechanical Turk. They moved to a different payment platform--Work Market, I think-- and then lowered the hell out of the pay on Mechanical Turk. Get used to them, apply for their qualifications, and then move off site to get paid on WM.

I would, however, suggest you don't. Even if you're awesome at it, unless your QC score is really high (3.75/4.00, and they only randomly grade 1 in 5 of your transcriptions), you won't get a great bonus, and that drives the pay down. Except to make 6 or 7 cents a minute, and have to work like a dog to get it.

YMMV, but that was more or less my experience.
