has anyone ever done a hit from MTURK-HDR ? seems like my screen doesn't work for their hits or something? but since they are sitting there and have no quals... i think no one can do these lol

So I have been away from this forum for a while, but I’m back. I hope everyone is doing OK! I finally got off the waitlist and have joined Prolific (Yay!) I was a bit disappointed to see a bunch of demographic / screener questions much like the ones on Connect. I have two questions for the fine people on this forum that do Prolific:

1. Do you have any general or specific advice for a person just starting out on Prolific?
   
   
2. What is your experience with these demographic/screener questions? Have you found answering certain questions one way or another opens up a lot of work or limits work available. (Not that I would lie or “cook the books” but there are many questions about myself that I could answer several ways depending on how I felt that day, etc.)

Lately, 70% of my money has come from Prolific. I answer all the questions, and answer honestly. I get plenty of work. When I first started, I think most hits paid under $1, but a year later, most are at least $1.20.

 

I haven't answered most of the demographic questions because if something changes in your life and you forget to update the demographics, yet answer the survey with the current information, you can get banned. Or so I have heard. Anyway, I looked just now and I have answered 20 of the questions and that's enough to get a decent amount of survey work.

I'm not paying all the household bills by Prolificing, but it helps a lot with my medical bills/copays.

 

I just tried, no luck. These must be really special.

 

Oh this is interesting. Thanks for the heads up about possible bans from answering questions differently. I will be selective about which ones I answer at first and see how it goes. It is just that many of these questions have more that one true answer for me.... Of the 20 questions you answered, what general categories are they in? Which categories did you skip? Also, if this is getting to personal or is too much detail please ignore this question. Thank you for the help!

I answered a few in each category that aren't likely to change such as the language I'm fluent in, our income, household size, some of the health stuff. The ones I didn't answer at all are shopping, lifestyle, and beliefs. Those seem too easy to do like you said and feel differently/answer differently depending on how you feel.

 

Thank You! Great answers to my questions! These platforms are so opaque and workers have so little power. It is only because of the aid I have received from fellow workers like you that I have been able to navigate these dangerous waters. Your help is greatly appreciated!

 

I have all the "About You" questions answered - if it helps filter out work that I'm available or unavailable to participate in, that's a plus.

I still get prompted periodically to answer some About You questions, but I assume it's to have an updated responses in case of life changes.
